Swedish CE Co-Sponsors Body Local Summer Rooftop Event

For the second year in a row, Swedish Institute Continuing Education
was a co-sponsor of the Body Local Midsummer Rooftop Party, held on
Wednesday July 27th, which was attended by approximately 550 health and
wellness professionals in the tri-state area.

Body Local is an organization devoted to connecting NYC’s wellness and fitness community and practitioners, and the midsummer soiree is their signature annual event. Located at the rooftop of the Mercedes Club in midtown, this poolside event features a wellness pavilion, poolside DJ, and numerous businesses ranging from companies related to yoga, pilates and personal training to organic skin care, organic food and sustainable apparel. We were happy to be able to talk to so many people about what Swedish Institute has to offer, and by the end of the night, we were once again wiped out of our informational handouts and give-aways. We were also particularly happy to see such a nice amount of Swedish Institute alumni and even some of our current faculty and students at the event – who in turn seemed very excited and proud to see their school present.

It’s great to be a part of the Body Local community of people passionate about health & wellness and eager to support each other, and we look forward to continuing to partner with Body Local for more upcoming events this fall.

Commencement Ceremony for Graduates of the Spring 2016 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training

On Monday July 18th, Swedish Institute Continuing Education celebrated our second graduating class of students who successfully completed the 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training program which began in March.

The ceremony was hosted at our partner yoga studio, Studio Anya, and included a beautiful ceremony where the graduates were presented with traditional mala beads, and was fol-lowed by a reception with the students’ family and friends who had been invited to celebrate the culmination of their hard work and commitment over the past four months. These stu-dents are now able to take the final step to register their Certificate of Completion with Yoga Alliance®, and as such, be able to use the official “RYT-200®” to designate that they are a Yoga Alliance® certified and recognized instructor.

Some of the feedback from the students:
“…groundbreaking approach to the nervous system and making it the bridge between massage and yoga”

“…[taught me] how I could help a client one-on-one to reach the benefits of yoga, especially if physically, they are not fully versed in strength-style yoga. I felt such a difference in my own body practicing [these] yoga methods.”

“This program taught me how to incorporate the two disciplines of body-work and yoga to provide another way and a whole new level of assessing, as-sisting, treating and instructing my patients to combat their pains and ailments.”

“There is such potential for this joint venture, that ANYA and Swedish Institute have, in becoming life chang-ing for many prospective yoga teachers/ massage therapists. I would challenge everyone…to continue to
evolve with the constant changing ground that is the holistic arena, in which yoga and massage live in.”

We congratulate our second group of Yoga Instructor Training graduates on this wonderful achievement and accomplishment, and eagerly look forward to seeing where they go from here!
